“Picky eating” is not unusual in babies and toddlers.
As a group, toddlers tend to be afraid to try new things and they tend to get stuck in their ways. Plus, growth slows in Baby’s second year, so her appetite may also decrease. The best you can do is to continue to offer the healthy and delicious foods you know are best for your child. It could take as many as 15 or 20 introductions to a food before some babies or toddlers will accept it. Continue to offer the foods and allow your toddler to choose if she will eat them or not. Plus, be sure to eat these healthy foods yourself so that your child sees you eating a variety of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and whole grains. If you are a good role model and consistent, persistent, and patient, eventually it may pay off!
