It's Groundhog's Day!  Punxsutawney Phil gave us the news today that we will have 6 more weeks of Winter. Depending on where you live you might be jumping for joy or in a sour mood. Whether you are thrilled or upset by this news, you can make your day even brighter by celebrating with a Groundhog themed day.

We found some fun ideas to make Groundhog's Day special for you and your little ones.

Groundhog Book: The book Go To Sleep Groundhog is a fun story that children will love. It's autumn and time for Groundhog to sleep until Groundhog Day, but he cannot fall asleep Maybe a little walk will make him sleepy. When he steps outside his burrow, he's in for some surprises. After all his nocturnal wanderings, will Groundhog be able to wake up for his big day?

Groundhog Treat: Who says a treat can't be healthy! Make up a batch of our Carrot Apple Spiced muffins or MOMables Blueberry and Spinach brownies and decorate them with either peanut butter or other favorite spread. Using nuts for the teeth and ears and chocolate chips or raisins for the nose and eyes. ****Remember you can freeze the extras for another time.

Groundhog Craft: When getting my daily dose of Pinterest I noticed this fun and EASY craft that would be suitable for toddlers, preschoolers and even grade school children. All you need is red, black and white construction paper, wiggly eyes and glue stick. If you have a younger child we suggest cutting everything out for them. If you have an older child that is good with child size scissors, trace all the parts and let them cut it out by themselves. Either way, let your child explore and place the objects the way they would like to. This is a great way to encourage imagination!
